The 32-year-old - who turns 33 in August - was born and bred in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney and has been signed by new coach Ian Crook as a central defender who can also play in midfield.
Griffiths joins Sydney FC after spending two years in China where he played with Hangzhou during the 2010 and 2011 Chinese Super League seasons.
“We’re delighted that Adam has agreed to join Sydney FC,” said Crook. “He is a very talented player who fits in with what we are trying to put together at Sydney FC.
“Adam is a Sydney boy, he’s hungry and has a winning mentality, something he has proven in the past. He’s also got good pace, he’s experienced and he gives us not only a very strong central defender but some versatility.”
Griffiths put pen to paper today after passing a medical examination last week and trained with his new team mates for the first time this morning.
“I’m really happy to be joining Sydney FC, it’s like coming home for me,” Griffiths said. “I grew up in the Sutherland Shire, I played all my early football in Sydney and to be playing for Sydney FC is fantastic.
“I look forward to giving everything I’ve got for Sydney FC. It’s a big club with ambitions to win things and that suits me. It’s a bonus to play in front of family and friends, as well as the Sydney FC fans.”
