Adelaide United coach Guillermo Amor says now is not the time to be talking about his contract after defender Michael Marrone recommitted to the club on Friday.
Amor’s two year contract comes to an end in June and the Barcelona legend made his focus clear, which was on Sunday evening’s match against Wellington Phoenix.
James Holland and Sergi Guardiola are the only players who have departed the Reds in the current transfer window.
But the positive news is that the Reds have locked in two players, Isaias signing for three years and Marrone furthering his contract for another two years.
Amor felt his contract situation was a needless discussion and said he was happy for Marrone’s commitment to United.
“I don’t know, this is not important, now it’s about the game, the team the players,” Amor said.
“I’m happy in this case for Mickey because he is fantastic, a very good player and person. He deserves this contract, two years to stay here, he’s happy here in Adelaide in this is very good for the team.
“I prefer… it’s not the moment now, the team isn’t winning. For me it’s difficult but I prefer to be focused on the games, our job and to take points.
“I know the club needs to continue and to not stop signing players, contracts and signings don’t stop. With the club I must speak, I speak every day and it’s no problem. I repeat the same… I think about here and no more than to win tomorrow.”
Amor said he only had one key player out, Marcelo Carrusca, who picked up a knock. There was no definitive call as to what was keeping the Argentinian out for the Nix game. The only other absentee, Jordan Elsey was ruled out for the season with a knee injury in September.
With the poor season the Reds are having, Marrone admitted there was little time, but still a realistic chance, to get something out of the season.

Adelaide defeated Wellington 2-0 in the beginning of December to record their first win of the season which prompted former Nix coach Ernie Merrick to stand down.
Still, Marrone said it was an easy decision to extend his stay with the Reds.
“We’re not in a good situation at the moment," the 30-year-old said. "But if you think back to last year we had a lot of highs, we’re in a bit of a low at the moment.
“This club has some good success with the cup and the league last year and I want to be a part of something in the future.
“I’d love to be on a winning team in the Grand Final again, being from Adelaide it was a very easy decision.
“Our team gets along really well, there’s no problems within the team and I’m sure all the players would want to stay here.
“Depending on the circumstances, that’s only reason why people would leave. I’m very happy here and I’m sure the other players are too.”
