Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold wants his side to become more ruthless after edging to a 1-0 win over Adelaide United at Allianz Stadium on Thursday night.
Josh Brillante scored the only goal of the game on 38 minutes with an effort from outside the penalty area.
Adelaide gave pre-season debuts to new signings Sergi Guardiola and James Holland.

The reigning champions are away to Newcastle Jets in Round One on Sunday 9 October.
Sydney meet city rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in a bumper opening round derby at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 8 October.
Arnold said his side would need to better in front of goal for Round One.
“We dominated today and I felt we should have had four or five,” he said. “We're looking in good shape.
"When it all starts next week we need to be ruthless in front of goal."
