Roar’s Brandon Borrello has been named the January nominee for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award.
The nomination is Borrello’s third after he was the March nominee in 2014/15 and also nominated in October of the 2015/16 season.
Borrello is the fourth player nominated for the award following Sydney FC duo Brandon O’Neill (October) and Josh Brillante (November), and Western Sydney Wanderers FC defender Jonathan Aspropotamitis (December).
Bar a cameo off the bench in Brisbane Roar’s first game of 2017 against Newcastle, Borrello played every minute in the ensuing three matches, which included a vital goal in a win against Western Sydney Wanderers FC.
“It’s been a great month for me and the team and it’s an honour to be nominated for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year for the third time,” Borrello said.
“I’ve been working hard on consistently performing at a high level and now I want continue to help the team be successful this season.”
The NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2016/17 will be announced at the Dolan Warren Awards Night.
NAB has donated a $2,000 NAB Club Recognition Award to Borrello’s nominated junior club, which includes a range of equipment along with a financial reward.
The overall winner will receive a $10,000 personal investment portfolio, along with a NAB Private Client Manager to assist with a range of banking and financial services.
Each month representatives from the FFA Technical department vote on a 3-2-1 basis for the most outstanding U-23 players in the A-League during that period.
