Sydney may have finished ahead of Blacktown City on the NSW NPL ladder but City enjoy the better record against their local rivals.

This includes its Round of 32 FFA Cup and the 3-2 NPL semi-final victory that earnt them a spot in the big dance. 

Choi scored in both encounters including a memorable 70-metre stunner in the Cup tie.

He also scored the winning goal in the clash against United two weeks ago.

Choi believes Blacktown City are poised for a strong performance in the competition decider.

“Obviously winning that game gave us confidence we needed for the Grand Final,” Choi told FourFourTwo.

“It’s a big day for the club playing in three straight Grand Finals. It’s a good feeling as we prepare for that game.

"All the boys are very excited, hopefully we can play a good game and hopefully we can come up with a win.”

Blacktown’s other attacking weapon is Patrick Antelmi who has developed an almost telepathic connection with Choi throughout the NPL season and FFA Cup. 

“We’ve played together for two years now,” said Choi.

“So we know each other and how we play and we know where we are going to be and all that kind of stuff.

"He can read my movements and where I am on the park and he knows when I’m going to pass to him as well. It’s just about that connection we’ve built on the field that we can score goals and I know that I can set him up.

“It is good to help the team win, but as much as we’ve done well with all the goals that I’ve scored and all the players I’ve set up I could not have done it without the help of my teammates.”

Korea-born Choi moved to Australia aged 10 and says he harbours hopes to climb the professional ranks and earn an Australian passport.

“At some stage I want to play in Europe,” he said. “But after this season I am not sure where I will go or where I will play but anywhere in a professional league I will be happy.

“To be able to play in Australia in the A League obviously you’ve got to have the citizenship to become an Australian,

"Future wise I think having an Australian passport is a big thing and very important in my footballing career.

“If I play well where I am then hopefully I’ll also be able to get a chance to play for the Socceroos - that would be a dream come true.”
