Aussie goalkeeper Alex Cisak says promotion back into League One has to be the target for his club Leyton Orient as they prepare to kick off the new season this weekend.
Cisak joined Orient last year and made 60 appearances for the club in 2015/2016, collecting 12 cleansheets. The O's were relegated into League Two at the end of the 2014/2015 season and finished a disappointing eighth in their first campaign in the fourth division of English football.
Cisak told FourFourTwo that anything less than securing promotion this season would be a failure.
"We have the same goal as last season - the main goal is to get promoted," he said.
"Anything less would be a failure.
"Pre-season has been going well, it's been tough as always. But we plan on being very fit and 100% ready for the first league game of the season.
Orient face Cheltenham Town in their League Two opener on Saturday. The 27-year old is not predicting an easy encounter in their first match, with Cheltenham having been promoted up from the National League.
"I expect them to be highly motivated to beat us," Cisak admits.
"They will be a good side and it will be a diffcult game for us."
The O's have made several signings ahead of the start of the season, including former Aston Villa striker Jordan Bowery, Oldam Athletic midfielder Liam Kelly, French defender Yvan Erichot and Bristol Rovers centre back Tom Parks.
In pre-season Orient have defeated Gillingham 2-0, Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1, Woking 2-0 and had a 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic. Cisak believes the London club will go into the new campaign confident about their chances.
"Our last couple of results in pre-season have been promising against teams a league above us," the shot-stopper said.
