A strong contingent of The Cove turned up for today's 3-0 semi final win over Canberra United and Garriock wants to see a sea of sky blue next Saturday to help will the home side to its first silverware - and the club's second after their A-League side won the championship in season one.

"We had a little bit of The Cove there today so if we can get a little bit more, quite a lot more, it'd be brilliant because they lifted our spirits when we scored and lifted us when we were feeling down," Garriock said after the game.

"They definitely were the extra player out there for us today."

"Myself and Walshy [Sarah Walsh] and Servet [Uzunlar] are locals so we're ecstatic that it's here. To have it here is brilliant, I coach here in the Shire as well and the support was magnificent."

Saturday's 3-0 win was a master-class. After Sydney defender Alesha Clifford saw red on 11 minutes the Sky Blues reorganised and right on half-time Westfield Matilda Sarah Walsh stroked home the opening goal.

And on the hour mark Sydney deservedly made it 2-0 after Leena Khamis found herself free in the box to head home Julie Rydahl's set piece.

Captain Heather Garriock capped off a marvellous day for the Sky Blues with a third late on to send Sydney into their first ever W-League Grand Final.

Coach Alen Stajcic described the performance as the best of the season.

"I am really proud, it was probably the best performance I have ever seen (in the W-League)," said Sydney FC coach Alen Stajcic. "We showed good composure, good discipline, good finishing and we could have got another goal at the end.

"(We only had) ten players on a hot day for 75 minutes against a good team and against a quality goalkeeper.

"We would probably prefer to play against Central Coast (in the grand final) as I have coached most of the players at NSWIS (Institute), and it would be nice to have a local derby."

The second W-League semi final is played on Sunday between Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium in Gosford. The winners take on Sydney FC on Saturday at Shark Park in Cronulla.
