Macedonia international Daniel Georgievski will leave Melbourne Victory at the end of the season to join the Newcastle Jets on a two-year deal.
The 29-year-old confirmed the news on Instagram on Thursday evening, with Jets coach Mark Jones revealing the deal to the Newcastle Herald.
The Sydney-born defender spent three years with Victory having joined from Romanian club Steaua Bucuresti in 2014.
Victory coach Kevin Muscat said: "We accept Daniel's decision, but our collective focus is what we can achieve together this season.”
Georgievski helped Victory win the 2014-15 A-League double and the 2015 FFA Cup.
Victory have already been linked with Perth Glory defender Rhys Williams as they seek to boost their defensive options.
"He is an out-and out fullback,’’ Jets coach Mark Jones told the Newcastle Herald.
“He has represented his country, won a championship and is excited to be coming to the club.
"He is a good athlete, physical, has aggression, is a leader, is strong in the air and has a presence.
"When we have been under pressure and needed someone to step up, no one has been able to.
“With his experience, he will help us perform under pressure. He is the first step in strengthening the squad.
"We are not short of people who want to come to the club because of the style of football we play.
"We play out from the back, we can counter attack and we can play possession football.”
