Perth Glory have surged up to third spot on the A-League ladder after a 2-0 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers at nib Stadium on Saturday night.
Diego Castro assisted both goals as strikes from Chris Harold and Joel Chianese bookended the match’s two halves.
Adam Taggart should have opened the scoring as early as the 10th minute only for Jonathan Aspro to deny him with a miraculous goal-line block.
Terry Antonis soon curled a long-range free-kick against the post, before Vedran Janjetovic twice bailed out Wanderers with a pair of sharp saves.
Perth’s luck finally turned on the stroke of half-time when Chris Harold’s volley took a touch off Cornthwaite on its way past Janjetovic.
The second-half was more subdued until Chianese bagged his first in purple deep into stoppage time, helping the hosts leapfrog both Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City into third.
