Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat has dismissed claims he’s had any contact with Scottish side Glasgow Rangers.
It was reported that the A-League mentor was on the shortlist for Rangers, after boss Mark Warburton was sacked last week.
Muscat played for the Scottish club in the 2002/2003 season, making 22 appearances and helping them win a domestic treble of trophies.
But Victory coach said he'd had no direct contact with Rangers and, to his knowledge. neither had his representatives.
“It’s something I’ve not given any consideration to,” Muscat said.
“The reality is I’m contracted to Victory so I'll just keep carrying on. One thing we don’t do is, with players, comment on speculation and that’s all this is at this point in time.”

After Graham Arnold attracted interest from Europe and Tony Popovic was linked to Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shanghai Shenhua, Muscat admitted it was an indication of the development of coaches in Australia.
The 43-year-old has been in charge of Victory since 2013, his first post as a head coach, and at the same club where he served as captain.
“We’ve seen the exodus of players over a period of time, now that’s spreading to coaching staff, it’s great,” he said.
“(But) it’s not something I can consider at the moment because there’s nothing to consider. I’m not going to let anything, let alone speculation, distract from what we’re trying to do in the remainder of this season.
“I tell the players, especially the younger ones – ‘reach for the stars and if you fall somewhere short, you’ll be fairly satisfied’.
“I’m no different and this is a huge club, I’m honoured to be here and I love being here so I’m going to concentrate on doing the best possible job I can at this club.”
