"I had three great years with Victory, " he tells the bumper special A-League preview issue of FourFourTwo, on sale now in newsagents. "We were very successful.
"But being from Wellington, I always knew I'd come back at some point. I got the phone call from coach Ernie Merrick and I could sense they were very serious.
"The club had cleared up its issues with the licence before that, so that was a big positive for me.
"I'm very driven by trophies and I didn't want to come here to make up the numbers in the league.
"I knew me coming here would be a statement to the rest of the league. We're building a really good team here."
