Western Sydney Wanderers coach Tony Popovic insists he is happy with his team’s overall performances this season but admits “small details” are responsible for their seventh spot on the table.
The Red and Black squandered a two-goal lead in the 2-2 draw to Wellington Phoenix in Auckland last Saturday.
Popovic said he did not want to specify what the details were however has constantly reiterated how well his team is playing this season.
The Wanderers boss also said he would not be relying on luck as they travel to Suncorp Stadium tomorrow night to thwart Brisbane Roar who are unbeaten in nine games.
“(There’s) no negativity around the group, we’re not on the table where we want to be, (but) in terms of performances we’re happy where we are,” Popovic said.
“Putting the two together is always difficult. If the performances remain then the results will come, no doubt about it.
“We know what the causes are, they’re just small details… there’s not a lot wrong, so we can’t now look at many different things as to why we’re not getting the points we want.
“There’s always something you can do better. We feel we’re constantly improving, the performances are there regardless of the previous results.”
Popovic ruled out Kerem Bulut who picked up an ankle injury in last week’s youth game however has brought in Robbie Cornthwaite and Shannon Cole who did not partake in last week’s game.
New signing Vedran Janjetovic is still undergoing light sessions after arriving in the club earlier in the week.
Popovic said he was unsure whether the new gloveman would partake in January indicating Jerrad Tyson would still be No.1.
He also said he was open to signing more players in the upcoming transfer window.
“We’ve got two keepers and if the opportunity presented itself to bring Vedran in then great,” he said.
“If it didn’t then it didn’t. It didn’t really affect us at all now that he’s here, he’s part of the Wanderers.
“We’re trying to add quality to the squad, if we can do that and find someone who fits in both commercially and on the playing field… if it doesn’t we can only control what we can.
“We’re searching, looking and we’ll make the most of the window in January, if we can and if we don’t we move on.”
