It’s understood the deal is about to be announced and the player is a huge star who will give the club and the league a huge boost, say insiders.

United have already built a squad that some are tipping for championship glory so  with this superstar talent arriving shortly, expectations will be even higher.

Last season’s W-League Golden Boot Michelle Heyman from Central Coast and Matildas star Sally Shipard join coach Ray Junna’s ranks this season.

Returning from injury is striker Caitlin Munoz while Ellie Brush, Emily Van Egmond and Ellyse Perry form part of a strong defensive unit. Keeper Lydia Williams, currently in South Korea with the Matildas at the Peace Queen Cup, is set to resume her spot in goals.

United were beaten by Sydney FC in the semi-finals last season and the previous year Canberra made it to the final only to be beaten by Brisbane Roar in Queensland.
