The 23-time Socceroo has had a nomadic existence over the past five years, with Adelaide United, Sion, Western Sydney, Liaoning and Seongnam among his list of clubs.

He said the past few 12 months playing in Asia with Liaoning and Seongnam brought its own challenges, with A-League clubs more advanced in medical departments, which he hopes will help him launch into a big campaign.

Croatia-born Vidosic, 30, has slipped from Socceroos calculations with his form dipping but he knows why. It’s all about a proper pre-season, something he’ll get this term.

“(A full pre-season) is very, very important,” Vidosic said.

“When I was in Adelaide in 2012 that was my last actual full pre-season. It was the best I’ve felt going into a season.

“It was also a very successful season of mine, I was top scorer of the club, finished as the club champion and we had quite a successful season as well.

“I realise five years after that, not having a pre-season, coming in a week before or in Round Seven and coming in straight away playing, the body is catching up.

“Now I’ve got a good chance to get in the gym and get my mind body and style all connected. I’ll be ready for Round One.”

Vidosic recently had an arthroscopy on his knee, surgery which his previous club hadn't flagged, but he is confident he’ll be over the injury soon.

He’s delighted to be back in the A-League where players get far improved management from coaching and physio staff than in Asia, according to Vidosic who had to google physiotherapy treatment for injuries himself while with Seongnam.

“In China we had no physio. We only had a doctor and a masseuse,” Vidosic said.

“Thankfully I had no injuries there. Sometimes it can be a scary place if you have a few injuries.

“Obviously here they look after our loads, what we do, we fill out everyday how we’re feeling.

“That’s something I search for now, to come into the workplace and enjoy it.

“I’m looking forward to a pre-season which I haven’t been able to do since 2012.”
