Argentine attacker Nicolas Martinez believes Western Sydney Wanderers will shoot up the A-League table if their finishing gets better.
The Wanderers have scored 15 goals this season, equal fifth-best in the competition. The club has managed six draws from its 11 matches and only two wins.
According to Martinez, who joined Western Sydney in the off-season from the Cypriot First Division, defensively the team is strong but its attack could be more potent. Getting the finishing right will be the Wanderers' final piece of the puzzle.
"Our game has improved a lot," he said. "We're playing good football, we're creating a lot of chances and not conceding a lot. Maybe with some of the chances we've had we have to improve that [finishing], and I think we're on the right path.
"But working like this, in the final decisions, things are going to be different."
Martinez has made a quick impression in the A-League, already scoring two goals and setting up three others since his arrival. The 29-year old feels the best is yet to come from Western Sydney.
"In the beginning maybe it was hard for us," he said.
"But now we have found our football, maybe sometimes we need a bit of luck but we don't have to rely on this. We have to create our own luck and if we are focused a little bit more than every minute we'll fix those small details and we'll start to go up [the table]."
Wanderers will seek to get back to winning ways on Friday when they clash with Brisbane Roar who are in a good run of form and have moved up to equal second on the ladder.
"It's going to be a difficult match, we know that," Martinez said.
"We played them on our pitch and now it's more difficult because they're a good team. But also we're a good team, we're playing good and we have to try and get a result there.
"We have to think about ourselves, we know it's going to be a difficult match. They have good players. We believe in all the world we're going to make it here, and we're going to try and win the match.
