Round 4 of the Hyundai A-League served up a bevy of quality and contentious moments as Australia's premier division continued to enthral and intrigue its devotees.

With this blog having been created to reward the A-League's finest for their efforts after each round, let's take a look at who really outshone the pack to earn a deserved pat on the back.

Fabio Grosso Appreciation Award

Two nominees in this category as Central Coast Mariners Argentinean playmaker Patricio Perez, and Perth Glory striker Michael Baird hauled themselves to the ground in true Grosso fashion.

Baird takes the prize on points simply because he should know better.

Having cut his teeth in the rough and tumble of the NSL before playing four years in Romania - a league where no love's lost - one could have expected more from the former Queensland Roar man.

What's more, Baird's dive took place in almost the exact spot as Grosso's, having cut in from the left. Bravo.

Best Goal Celebration

Mark Bosnich put the challenge out a few weeks ago after Icelandic club Stjarnan inspired the football world with some classic goal celebrations, and the A-League has begun to answer his call.

This round's winner goes to Isaka Cernak and his Fury teammates, with their reverse synchronised shuffle performed in homage of Czech coach Franz Straka and his former Hansa Rostock teammates.

Straka used to perform the backwards groove with his Hansa teammates after every game the East German club won, with the shimmy still occasionally sighted at Rostock's DKB-Arena.

Adelaide's Marco Flores receives a participation award for his impromptu wig dance that left one travelling fan wigless, and his teammates curious.

Save of the Round

Three contenders in this esteemed category for custodians - of which the A-League has many.

Firstly, North Queensland Fury's Justin Pasfield continued to impress with a stunning save from a Sergio van Dijk header.

Having not enjoyed the best start to the season with Melbourne Victory, Michael Petkovic proved he's still up to it with an amazing block to thwart a cracking Jason Culina volley.

And lastly, Clint Bolton reaffirmed his status as one of the top stoppers in the country with a brilliant reflex save from a Robbie Fowler rocket.

Bolton takes the winner's cheque (there is a cheque, right KA? Oh yes. It's in the mail, of course - KA) with his reaction save all the more impressive considering he'd been largely cooling his heels up until then.

Goal of the Round

Three nominees in this category too as the league's goal scorers took aim at the weekly award.

Crucially, the top strikes of round 4 were all the result of sleek team moves, which is great to see.

On Friday night, Kosta Barbarouses earned himself a nomination with a great low finish against his former club.

Later in the weekend, Robbie Kruse did well to dart past Glen Moss before finishing clinically from an acute angle.

But the winner goes to Argentine Marco Flores, who on Saturday controlled with his chest before swivelling to rifle his team level. Needless to say, Flores's goal was better than his celebration.

Top Tweets

And last but not least, each week I will post some of the top tweets sent to #aleague hash-tag.

neilsherwin left this message for Harry Kewell's BFF: "Robbie Slater - please learn the names of the players. Hint - they correspond with the numbers on their shirts. Thanks."

tropicalstorm praised Bleiberg's couture: "Morion must think he is in a Ralph Lauren commercial!"

And finally, Ian "Dicko" Dickson offered Bosnich some advice to take to the salon: "Who does Nick Carle's hair? Good option for The Bozzo."

Till next week, enjoy the wonderful world of football...
