IF A-League round 6 was a cartoon, onomatopoeic adjectives such as "KA-POW!", "BAMM!", "BIFF!" and "WHOOSH!" would not have been out of place.

I make the comparison because some of the super special moments dished up over the weekend seem more likely to have been penned in fiction rather than fact.

Without further ado, let's get into the nuts and bolts of the action!

Goal of the Round

Last week, the A-League Awards Blog remarked some patterns had begun to emerge among some of the league's top talent.

Round 6 saw more evidence of this.

Especially, having witnessed Nick Ward's bomb against Sydney FC at the Cake Tin, yours truly thought this section would write itself.

How wrong could I have been?

Less than two hours later, Argentine ace Marcos Flores - winner of goal of the round in round 4 - would produce a dribble and finish a certain compatriot by the name of Diego Armando Maradona would be proud of. At just 24, what a fine career Flores could still have in front of him.

But the "oohs" and "aahs" didn't end there.

On Sunday, Victory fans could have been forgiven for sending out a search party for Ricardinho at half time, such was the Brazilian's non-descript performance in the opening 45.

Then we learnt why he's being touted "King of the Dribble" - or as one website unreliably informs me, "O rei da Gota" in Portuguese.

Sure, he got a little (okay, a lot) of help from a rare Luke DeVere poor performance, but that shouldn't take anything away from the determined, jinking run that propelled the former Jeju United striker to instant hero status at AAMI Park.

Finally, little more than 15 minutes later we'd have another contender.

Scotsman Grant Brebner rifled home from the edge of the area with both power and precision, capping a fine individual display for Victory.

But I can't go past Flores for the gong again. The attacking midfielders solo run was as fluent as it was deadly, and even before he'd passed the second of four would-be defenders, you got the sense he'd score.

Save of the Round

Since my ramblings regarding Goal of the Round were longer than a Rob Oakeshott speech, I'll slim this section down.

Save of the Round this week goes to the über impressive Clint Bolton.

This is Bolton's second Save of the Round award, having won (like Flores) in round 4.

The Heart stopper wins for his outstanding reaction stop to deny Daniel McBreen's volley. Wow.

Top Tweets

As with every week, here are some of the top tweets from #aleague fans around the globe.

Footballperth's summation of the Marco Flores goal gave me justification, and a chuckle: "I have to say Marco Flores' goal was a tinsy bit better than Nick Ward's. Akin to comparing Pam Anderson to Beyonce."

Arjun275 offered his insights into Melbourne Heart's pursuit of Ronaldo: "Melbourne Heart to try and sign Ronaldo! There are so many of them in Brazil, hope they actually sign the right one!"

Sui1977 urged A-League fan factions to start and get a bit more creative: "Whoever thought that goalie chant that several clubs do was a good idea? Sounds like arse!" (couldn't agree more, Sui)

While CWBush gave the suits some food for thought concerning attending A-League games: "Why are people paying as much or more to see an #aleague game a top level NRL or AFL? It's, sadly, not top level"

Till next week, enjoy the wonderful world of football...
