DOES anyone really care that Sydney and Melbourne are sitting one and two on the A-League table?

Never mind the fact both teams are appearing to make this season's competition a two horse race as they slowly start to pull away from the chasing pack. Or is a club in crisis much more exciting to talk about?

Maybes I could talk about the fact that Melbourne have won six out of their last seven matches with two of those being against traditional bogey sides, Newcastle and Perth but I'm sure no one wants to talk about that.

For anyone that cares, I thought Perth were all the more impressive considering how lacklustre our performances have been in the last couple of years. In the past, they would have wilted under that Perth pressure late in the first half but instead it was the boys from out west who were looking a little worse for wear as they struggled in the West Australian sun. It could well be a year to putting all those hoodoos to bed, including the important one - retaining the championship.

I could also digress and talk about the moustache that Adriano Pellegrino was sporting of the first day of Movember. A moustache on the first day that already looks better than mine will do at the end of the month. That's hardly fair is it now.

There could also be the option to talk about Carlos Hernandez and that it would be a travesty if he fails to get a call up from Costa Rican national coach, René Simões, for their upcoming sudden death World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay. He has been immense for the Victory in the last month, scoring and setting up numerous goals and personally, I would love to see him help Costa Rica put one over Uruguay in mid-November.

Maybe I could mention the fact Ernie Merrick's willingness to put his faith in our younger players has certainly paid off. The efforts of Dugandzic last week, and Elasi this week surely puts paid to those who say he doesn't give the youngsters a fair go. Although I would like to see Matthew Theodore get a run sometime soon.

And finally I could say about the performance of Archie Thompson, who appears to finally gotten over the departure of his long-term strike partner, and put in one of his performances of the season. But in the end I guess people are more interested in talking about billionaires, protests and crowd numbers rather than talk about exciting football and what is shaping up to be a rather exciting second half of the season.

Neil thinks that it's quite surprising that at the moment North Queensland appear to be the most stable of the three Queensland teams. Who would have thought?
