SO THE highly controversial Mark Bosnich has signed for Sydney Olympic to showcase his talents to A-League clubs, according to au.fourfourtwo.

The news comes after a proposed move to Swindon Town was dismissed, and Newcastle Jets rejected a move for the 37-year-old. It comes after months and months of speculation regarding who exactly will be the keeper added to our club's goalkeeping stocks to compete with the inexperienced Justin Pasfield.

That Mark Bosnich is still left without a contract with an A-League club is perhaps as surprising as his proposed move to Sydney Olympic. It makes perfect sense though - put in some good performances for Olympic and plant himself firmly in the shop window for A-League clubs in need of an experienced keeper. His former gaffer, Lawrie McKinna agrees, finding it hard to believe other A-League clubs have not shown interest in Bozza.

"I am a bit surprised that none of the other clubs have made a move for him (Bosnich)," he told au.fourfourtwo. "I think he could be excellent value, whether that's in the team or helping to push the number one keeper at that club."

Funny he should mention Bosnich, when the former Manchester United player is exactly the type of player that would come in handy for a Mariners squad needing an overhaul. Back to Fury though and the club's goalkeeping stocks, and it has come down Leicester City keeper Paul Henderson and Mark Bosnich. Many Fury fans are keen on seeing Ian Ferguson's line up contain both Bozza and Fowler, but has the 37-year-old already been ruled out by Ferguson?

Fury boss Ferguson told Goal.com: "There will be no more big names. What we'll be doing now is trying to emulate what the Queensland Roar have done: find the next Robbie Kruse, Tahj Minniecon, Tommy Oar and give these young kids an opportunity to do well."

Henderson vs. Bosnich: Who's the better candidate?

It's taken long enough, speculation has come and gone, the cloud covering NQ Fury's goalkeeping situation now looks to have cleared with only two remaining: Paul Henderson and Mark Bosnich.

Paul Henderson has been, and remains favourite to put on the gloves for Fury next season, meanwhile Mark Bosnich looks to to be first-choice for Fury fans desperate for an experienced keeper. Question is, which would suit NQ Fury better?

In the blue corner we have former Manchester United and Chelsea glovesman Mark Bosnich, after turning down/being rejected by English outfit Swindon Town, the 37-year-old has set his sights on a deal with an A-League club, any A-League club? Last season Bosnich rejected an offer to head across the Tasman and join Wellington Phoenix, with the reason believed to be because the 'Nix couldn't promise Bosnich a starting-role and unless I'm mistaken, because his asking price was too much. One-year on and surely Bosnich would not reject an offer from Fury - after all that is why he signed for Sydney Olympic, to show off his talents, right?

Though it must be asked whether Bosnich, at the age of 37 would have many years left in him, would it not be smarter to sign Henderson, who at 33 years of age could offer Fury stability potentially having many seasons left in him. On the flip-side Bosnich would adapt to the heat and humidity easier than Henderson who has been in England for the past five years.

In the red corner is Paul Henderson, believed to be one of the many being released by Leicester City come season's end. After five years in England it now looks to be Henderson's time to finally return to Australia, with Townsville his most likely destination. As previously mentioned the 33 year-old has many more years left in him then Bosnich, he may not be a big name like Bosnich, but it is Henderson who will offer more in the long-run.

Tip: Henderson to put pen to paper with Fury, although one could not be disappointed if Mark Bosnich was to sign.

Fergie - ''Fowler Won't Skipper Fury''

The latest Fury related news is that star recruit Robbie Fowler will not captain NQ Fury, despite being the most experienced member in the squad coach Ian Ferguson told the Townsville Bulletin his ideal captain would be Australian.

"It's not so much about taking responsibility off him, I look at him as being my marquee player and taking a lot of responsibility but I want an Australian boy to be captain," he said.

Should the captaincy not be given to the most experienced or the most natural leader? If we're going for an unusual selection process, why not follow the lead of Newcastle Jets and choose the player with the most caps? Or in our case the first signed?

In the absence of inaugural signing and now Incheon United defender Jade North, it would mean former Sydney trio Brendan Santalab, Robbie Middleby and Jacob Timpano would captain NQ Fury in our inaugural season... why not?

In all seriousness with Robbie Fowler ruled out my tip would be Ufuk Talay or if Ferguson decides against his original stance, Scottish import Scott Wilson.
