IF JESUS ever came back to earth, his crucifixion would be televised live around the world, and everyone would cheer. The ratings would be even higher if he was wearing a Gold Coast United shirt.

What do you want, people? You asked for better quality A-League teams, and more of them. You got it.

You asked for coaches willing to play open, attacking football. You asked for squads with the fitness, nouse, and technical skills to do it. You asked for million-dollar marquees, exciting juniors, and top class imports. You asked for returning Socceroo stars. You asked for more money, and better media coverage of the game.

Now all this and more has been handed to you on a platter by Gold Coast United. So what's your response?

"Bah!"

No, actually, worse than that. Widespread contempt and derision, verging on hatred. Seriously, what's wrong with you people? Where is the love?

++++
I went to my local pub to watch the game. As usual, all 40 televisions were screening rugby. Aaaarggh!!! I just couldn't stand it any more.

So I hurried down the road to the Dog and Parrot, where around 50 fanatical fans from "The Beach" were gathered around a huge screen, dressed in full GCU kits, ooohing and aahhhing and chanting their lungs out. Now that was better!

Surely there was nowhere on the planet besides Hindmarsh stadium to enjoy this game in a better atmosphere? It warmed my heart to see a bunch of ordinary lads and lasses just relaxing and enjoying the spectacle that Culina's mob are dishing up week after week.

If only more self-proclaimed football fans could sit back, chill out, and appreciate the quality football our club is delivering!

I mean, surely even the Hindmarsh die-hards could see the gap in skills and tactics? Surely some alarm bells should be ringing around A-League training grounds now?

And surely a few more self-professed football fans should be able to - however grudgingly - acknowledge that Gold Coast United 2009-10 really are "something special".

If that happy band of gold and blue supporters in Robina can revel in the pure joy of such footballing brilliance, why can't YOU?
