Football can be quite nice sometimes. But when you have a stretch of almost a month without a home game, you start to lose touch with your club. Especially when your club has a distinct lack of advertising and publicity.

Of course, every fan of the A-League has heard these complaints before, but now the situation in my opinion, is at its worst for Gold Coast United. With just less than a month between home games, it would be common sense to start advertising for the Sydney FC match quite early.

Alas, it seems common sense is something the United boardroom has a distinct lack of.

This year, we've already seen clubs giving away free tickets to matches, and their attendances boosting. But still, Clive Palmer refuses to do this. Already in his short time at the Jets, I am starting to like Nathan Tinkler more than Mr. Palmer.

He's come into the Jets, and instantly begun attracting fans to the wonderful game of football. Palmer has done no such thing. Instead he stands by and watch the attendances at Skilled Park dwindle. Which is truly heartbreaking for a fan who has followed United through its numerous lows and rare highs.

But of course, for the next match, we are away to Victory, and United has no power over the attendances, so instead I look forward to what I hope is a good performance from us.
The away match at Victory has always been a tough fixture.

Not just for us, but for anyone in the league. We are definitely in form, unbeaten in 8, with our only loss of the season coming from the home match against Victory.
A decent win against the Fury sets us up well against the Victory, but with the return of Archie Thompson, our defence definitely needs to be at their best.

As much as I would like us to win, I just can't see it happening. One of the most lively players against the Fury, James Brown, does not feel good and is out of the squad, as is speedster Tahj Minniecon. So we are looking a little lightweight in the creativity aspect of the game.

And with Bruce Djite out for another week, we may have to rely on midfield and defence to score some goals for us.

And with the epic failure of the fixturing schedule by the FFA, I have taken the point of view of my fellow United blogger, Glenn, in wanting a good old-fashioned home and away system.

Or at least something that stops a club from having either almost a month without games, or five away games in six rounds.

It dwindles our attendances even more, especially when fans aren't even notified by the club of upcoming games.

But we all know the FFA doesn't listen. Or Clive Palmer for that matter.

So now, I'll sign off in the hope that Gold Coast United can pick up three points against the Tards, and come into our home game with Sydney with a decent run of form.
