It will be the least publicised and worst attended century notched up in Brisbane this week but that doesn't lessen the enormity of Massimo Murdocca's achievement before 6,000 fans on Wednesday night.

For those that have missed it in the hype surrounding the commencement of yet another Ashes series, the pint-sized midfielder marked 100 games in orange with another solid performance, this time against Perth Glory.

In one of Real Madrid's most outstanding performances at the Camp Nou, Los Blancos beat FC Barcelona 3-1 in the Spanish Supercup. Real were leading 2-1 after Cristiano Ronaldo's 80th minute goal, but just before the final whistle, we sealed the win with this beautiful Marco Asensio strike.

Fittingly, Murdocca joins his fellow M&M and midfield accomplice Matt McKay as the only members of Brisbane Roar's 100-game club - an honour that both undoubtedly deserve.

You see, Murdocca and McKay are the only remaining players of the then-named Queensland Roar's first A-League campaign.  As such they are not only entitled to their individual recognition but also the team's so-far-so-good tilt at the title this time around.

It is arguable they deserve it even more than some of the fans since in my six or so years of following the club I have never seen the two of them turn against their own as many so-called supporters, including me, often do in moments of frustration and disappointment.

Ever the team man, Murdocca could even manage a wry smile after he was denied a rare goal by a freakish Tando Velaphi reflex save in front of a frothing Orange Army.

It seems that like their chocolate namesake both McKay and Murdocca have a hard outer coating that prevents them from melting under pressure; which got me to thinking what other qualities, no matter how tenuous and cringe worthy, the M&Ms share with said confectionery?

Unfortunately, there are none.  Unless the two midfielders have a previously unrevealed tendency to fall down the back of sofas and car seats and then make that strangely satisfying sound when sucked up with the vacuum cleaner.

But unperturbed, I continued my research and discovered with a rush of childish glee that it was possible to create customised versions of the ever popular confectionary at the official M&M website.

So guess what your humble blogger decided to do?

That's right - customised Massi and Matty M&Ms in Brisbane Roar colours.

Unfortunately for chocoholics and children everywhere, these are merely concept designs that are at the time of printing unlikely to ever reach the production stage.

As I have mentioned in blogs past, the public relations and marketing efforts of my beloved club can be haphazard and misdirected at times.  However, I will always give them credit for trying in a city where the media climate is still rather unfriendly to our particular code.

So perhaps the good people in the marketing department at Brisbane Roar can take on board the responses to the question I am about to put to the loyal and handsome readers of this blog - Would you, the fans, be prepared to part with your hard-earned to commemorate these two outstanding clubmen by purchasing a box of these ridiculously overpriced, yet unique, candy items?

I know that I would.  But then again I really, really like M&Ms - both the busy midfielders and their candy-covered chocolate namesakes.

Just so long as they're not the peanut ones - yuck!
