My view of the game
There was with a little sigh of relief at half time as we headed in to the change rooms a goal to the good. After Wednesday night proved that a top placed NYL team isn't a match for a bottom placed A-League team (only just), I was a little nervous that our injury ravaged team would be victim of the Heart attack. As the lead up to the game played out and hints that some key personnel would return, I find myself again in an optimistic state as by next round we should be stronger yet again.
If this was to be our mid season slump then so be it. We rode our luck, especially against Heart but emerge in third spot only four points from second BUT with that vital game in hand. Ahhh if only we had dispatched Adelaide when the opportunity presented itself.
As the season evolves it is interesting to note the top four are pulling further away from the pack and with some teams having as little as 10 or 11 matches left, time is running out to make a charge for Asia.
My view of the World cup Bid.
It was ultimately ambitious but ultimately a failure. While I have no direct proof and offer only my personal opinion, the A-League bled badly during this pursuit of the Holy Grail. It was clear after season three that some new directives and programs needed to be implemented. Yes FFA you had grabbed the fans and we all loved the new car smell, but letting the car travel for all those kilometres without giving it a check up or service has left us running on fumes.
Show me some faith. Market the ever loving daylight out of the league and pony up and do it for all the teams as well. SHOW ME THE LOVE. SHOW THEM SOME LOVE!
Oh and write this on the chalk board 500 times
Scheduling DOES matter... Scheduling DOES matter... Scheduling DOES matter... Scheduling DOES matter... Scheduling DOES matter... Scheduling DOES matter... Scheduling DOES matter...
My view of the referee standard in the last month.
- I didn't see anything.
- The player was blocking my line of sight.
- Studs up tackles are OK some times.
- Every 14th time a keeper grabs the ball he can take it from the box un-penalised.
- Robbie Fowler has earned his quota of red cards in his lifetime; when you reach a special number you no longer get them so hack away fellows.
- The benefit of the doubt goes towards the attacking team, in that I doubt they were attacking.
- Seven wrongs DO make a right
- Shirt tugging is now the number one concern and focus on maintaining a game, and tackles from behind are all ruled dangerous regardless of how cleanly the ball was struck by the defender even when the attacker remains untouched on his feet. That way a decision does not have to be made.
Unless I am mistaken, these are all of the new rule changes the A-League has undergone in the last month. Now I spend a fair amount of time at au.fourfourtwo.com but I must have missed this story.
Either that or we have just gone through a hellish period of ridiculous decisions.... It cant be that bad, can it?
