Lo and behold, we did it!
We signed someone!
Someone good!
As you can tell, I am happy at the signing of Socceroo Michael Petkovic to the club. A stalwart of South Melbourne, he's spent the last 10 years plying his trade in Europe with reasonable success, and has decided to come home for one last hurrah (one would assume so anyway, at 33).
Here's hoping he slides seamlessly into the team and provides us with much needed stability and experience, all attributes which will soon be gone when Captain Fantastic decides to retire and begin terrorising the opposition from the sidelines instead.
Here's hoping he becomes as big a fan favourite as the indomitable Theo once was. Although, 'Petko! Petko!' rolls quite nicely off the tongue.
As for 'He Who Shall Not Be Named'. Yes, the new Harry Potter movie comes out later this year, and it will star our not-so-favourite Kiwi, Glen Moss.
Oh wait, it seems I've messed up my villains.
This is make or break time for Glen. The signing of a Socceroo will prove a much tougher task than what Mitch presented, and even then the youngster ended up on top. As far as I see it, Glen has three options available to him:
1: Stick it out and earn his place between the sticks
2: Resign himself to being a mediocre bench player for the rest of his Victory stay
3: F*** off home
Ernie and the Victory have played their card, now it is time for Glen to call them or fold them. It'll say a lot about the man what decision he chooses to make.
So, as the Victory bring home a Socceroo home in the prime of his career (for a goalie at least), the question that will inevitably be asked is:
'Can he cover for Musky?'
Here's hoping he can.
