"There's only one real United!" was in a large portion of the posts on this forum leading up to the Gold Coast meeting Adelaide at Hindmarsh last Sunday - In fact the Red army displayed a banner to say so....

Yes there is only one 'real' united  -  and this year it is us!

Apparently the awesome size of the crowd was somehow suppose to intimidate the real United but if anything the adversity spurred them on, especially after Shane Smeltz 30 metre scorcher apparently stole the voices of a large portion of the crowd. I remember reading a post saying "I wouldn't want to be a GCU supporter sitting in the middle of that crowd" reffering to reports the game had sold out. I remember thinking, I couldn't think of anywhere better to be. If we won and I was lucky enough to be in that small band of yellow surrounded by 15000 red shirts it would be amazing. Unfortunately I was not able to be there but am hoping I can have the same opportunity to be surrounded by Orange shirts on Grand Final day with the same result.

Amazingly Fox sports commentator Simon Hill remarked that this was Miron's 40th+ changed line up leading into this game, again Injury to Adama Traore forced a change but that is amazing considering the position the team finished and their push deeper into finals football. I have this weird idea in my head that Miron holds these big events where the key players are selected into pots, and then everyone else's number is put on a ball. He then draws the team out like he is selecting the group games for the world cup!

Miron draws out the starting line up

"And the left back is - TRA-OR-AY"

Indecently Adama was in no mood to sit at home and nurse a torn muscle as he duly turned up and joined the GCU supporters club at their chosen pub and cheered the boys on amongst the common people - champion effort!

I must say I love this underdog status; you cannot beat Victory they are going all the way! Oh.. I mean Adelaide have been very strong this year, too strong for the likes of you! Oh... Well Central Coast drew 2-2 with the Raw on Saturday they are too strong for you. We will see.

Unless the FFA pulls a "Scouse_Roar " * style Conspiracy and makes GCU fly down to Perth to Play Glory then back in the same week to then face CCM on Saturday so they can relive the epic "4-0" win over the Gold Coast boys, I think we are in with an equal chance.

At any rate I am just extremely excited to have the Grand final in a stadium I can drive too! Whether it be GCU or CCM playing the Raw on Sunday the 13th I will be there to experience it all regardless of the $53 dollar hole the ticket will leave in my pocket, and the way the mighty are falling to this lowly team from the Gold Coast I am confident we can be that opponent.
