With Viteslav Lavicka's contract ending during the AFC Champions League Group Stage, some tough decisions have to be made now. The main being should Lavicka stay on as coach of Sydney FC, or should he step aside so that a new coach can have sufficient time to mould the team to his (or her) liking. After what could be described as Sydney FC's worst run of form since it's inception, more and more Sky Blue supporters are getting behind the idea of ousting Lavicka.

When you keep trying the same thing, hoping for a different result, that is the definition of insanity. I'm not saying that the Sydney FC coaching staff are insane, but they will be if they keep this up. Persisting with the diamond 442 formation and playing players not in their natural positions only promotes the problems that Sydney FC is facing. These are the problems that the fans are getting frustrated over.  Sure, the diamond 442 got us the double last season, but the league has progressed and increased in quality (Brisbane and Central Coast are fine examples) and we can't afford to be left behind.

Bosnich suggested on Fox Sports FC that there might be unrest in the backroom that could be affecting the performance on the field. If this is the case, it should be sorted out ASAP. This unrest could originate from contract negotiations, both players and staff. Only a couple of weeks ago, it was reported that Stuart Musialik's request for a payrise had been rejected. This could be the case for all the other players who are off contract after the season is finished. Lavicka and Zach's contracts are up after the A-League season finishes, and fresh news from the Czech Republic is suggesting that Zach will be heading back to the Czech Republic, where his family has apparently moved back to. The same report is suggesting that Lavicka is tossing up with the idea of staying on for another season, to the disdain of some Sky Blue fans.

Whichever way the decision may go, I hope it is made soon. There is nothing worse than not knowing what the future of the club will hold (see North Queensland Fury), so securing its future will help plan for the future. With the ACL kicking off in March and SFC already making it's first summer signing, Finnish Golden Boot Recipient Juho Makela, moves are already being made to ensure that Sydney FC will be competitive by the time the ACL starts. Players like Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Scott Chipperfield have been publicly linked with Sydney FC whilst Sydney FC management have stated that there will be 4-5 more key signings, including visa players from Europe and South America, there is a glitter of hope after what has been a disastrous season.

The other reason why the Sydney FC management should decide who will coach Sydney FC for the ACL and next season now is so that whoever is in charge, can actually sign players for the system in which they intend to play with. It will be incredibly daft for Lavicka to sign players now only for another coach to be instated soon after.

It's time to make a decisions.
