The one thing you need to know about the ultimate round of the Westfield W-League is that it's coming down to the wire.

Two teams share the top spot. One has a bye and the other will, short of a catastrophic loss, come away with the minor premiership. But that team is playing the team that managed to topple them mid-season with two spectacular goals at the game's end, which means they'll be nervous and keen to avoid a repeat.

The round's other two games will be equally knife-edge, with three teams in contention for the remaining two top-four spots. Sitting on 14, 13, 12 points respectively, three teams will be aiming to win and win by decent margins lest their be a decided-by-goal-difference twist.

Watching all this play out will be Roar Women, who finish the season with a bye. After two 0-0 draws in the last two rounds, they'll be wishing they had another match to earn minor premiership-securing points. They'll no doubt be focusing on their home semi final instead, as well as watching and waiting to find out who their opponents will be.

The likely outcome of the weekend's matches (although don't quote me, because I'm just as likely to be wrong) will be that Sydney defeats Newcastle and claims the minor premiership. Roar Women will move to second place. Canberra might just edge out Perth to secure a top-four finish (and thwart Perth in their efforts for their first finals campaign). And Melbourne will claim fourth place by defeating the luck-less but ever-improving Adelaide.

That said, Newcastle and Adelaide will be playing with nothing to lose and Perth will be playing for pride and their first-ever finals spot, so the results are just as likely to go their way. What's clear, though, is that the season is coming down to the wire. This is the week to get out in force and support your team.
