It's a vexed question because the Jets strikers have been inconsistent in putting the goals in lately.

It won't be Michael Bridges obviously, and the injuries to the side leave Branko with some interesting decisions about who should play up front. Petrovski looked very lively coming off the bench last game and was on the end of a few good opportunities. Given more than 10 minutes in the game, I think he would be very dangerous. Whilst his legs may be getting older, he is a very cunning and wily player, and if partnered with another striker who complements him, I think he could pop a few goals in.

But is that likely? The squad seems to be set out to benefit very mobile players, particularly up front. The team often look to set up chances on the counter using long cross-field balls, with Jeremy Brockie, Labinot Haliti, Marko Jesic and Sean Rooney doing the running and intercepting. A player like Petrovski would suit playing a short passing game along the ground style, fed by D'Apuzzo and Bridges, and by those plays set up by Wehrman and Zadkovich through the midfield. His ability to find space and make shots once he has the ball in the box is amazing.

There are a few players on the team who are definitely due a goal, like Abbas and Jesic, but the way things have been going for them, I think it might be Brockie or Rooney who scores against Roar (or Sasho, if he comes on early enough). Maybe Haliti will skip past a few defenders again and score a few, but Labi always seems to fire up then fade away again. I hope I'm wrong.

Back in midfield and defence there are also some interesting possibilities. I am not aware why D'Apuzzo didn't come on until late in the game against Melbourne, as I think he has been playing out his skin recently. The Italian Fiorentini impressed on his debut and it will be interesting to see how versatile he is in the centre of the park and what he can add. The defence has been solid and even without Topor-Stanley or Kantarovski you sense it will stay that way.

But it comes down to goals for the Jets and I still can't pick who they're going to come from. All it would take would be for one attacker to take the game by the scruff of the neck and go on a goal scoring romp for a few weeks and the Jets would be climbing the table again.

On another matter, the fixtures. Again. The Jets play Roar, again. The second half of the season we'll play Victory, Sydney and CCM ten times in a row. It's odd. The F3 derby isn't on until the end of November, week 16 of the comp and Sydney don't come to town again until early January. I can't work it out.

Lastly, are the Jets are becoming the Manchester City of the A-League? A new, wealthy owner with serious long-term ambitions and the coin to back it up. Is it too ridiculous to suggest that the Jets might get a foreign marquee player some time? Could the Jets become one of the top four of the comp over the next few years, winning titles and keeping them, attracting quality players, building a strong squad and maintaining it from year to year? What seemed impossible a few months ago now seems very likely.

Well that's all. It would be great to hear what readers think about who how and why any Jets attacker will shoot the goals, what the feeling is on the 2020 plan and the signing of Culina for the long term.
