"Twelve free trains with a capacity of 8,500 are heading for today's match between Russia and Egypt in St. Petersburg, which will kick off at the St. Petersburg Stadium at 21:00 [02:00 - Wednesday AEST]. The trains will be arriving from Moscow, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod," the directorate said in a statement.

According to the directorate, supporters from 154 countries have already booked 90 percent of all free train tickets to the group-stage matches and 68 percent of the train tickets to the knockout-stage games.

The organization added that a lot of passengers had not used their free train tickets at least twice during the first week of the World Cup without returning them and preventing other fans from taking their place.

According to the directorate, all other bookings made by these supporters will be canceled due to a high demand among other passengers.

Fans, who have already bought tickets for the World Cup matches and obtained their Fan IDs, can book free train seats on the Transport Directorate's website. Starting from June 11, the tickets are also available in ticket offices at railway stations.
