Igor Akinfeev has become Russia's second-most capped player, leapfrogging former defender Viktor Onopko.
It was the 110th game with the national team for the goalkeeper, who made his debut in 2004. Onopko was capped for Russia 109 times from 1992 to 2004.
The 38-year-old CSKA Moscow and Russia defender Sergei Ignashevich is Russia's most capped player. The Spain clash is his 126th game with the team since 2002.
