Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantara said on Friday that a loss to hosts Russia in the round of 16 would be "very disappointing" for him.
Spain will face Russia in the round of 16 match at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Monday (12am AEST).
"For me it will be very disappointing if we don't reach the next round. We are 23 waiting to play and progress to the quarter finals. All those who have come with us, we have come to win. You're [fans] all away from home supporting Spain. For us the most important thing is football," Alcantara said, as quoted by FIFA's official website.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
