MOSCOW, June 6 (Sputnik) - All of Russia’s stadiums that are set to host FIFA World Cup matches have been certified according to international or Russian environmental standards, Milana Verkhunova, the head of the sustainable development department of the Local Organizing Committee, said on Wednesday.
"We have almost completed several important tasks. The first task is the ‘green certification’ of stadiums, the construction of stadiums in accordance with ‘green’ standards. Today I am happy to announce that all the World Cup stadiums have been certified according to one of the recognized international or Russian ‘green’ standards," Verkhunova told journalists.
The FIFA World Cup will take place between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, and Sochi.
