Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that the anti-Russian propaganda about the 2018 World Cup in the foreign media was "dishonest journalism."
"All these anti-Russian propaganda false stories are nothing more than dishonest journalism, but no such examples - absurd, comical, wild - can overshadow the overall picture of this true sports festival," Zakharova said.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on 14 June and will continue until 15 July, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
