Argentina midfielder Lucas Biglia has announced his retirement from the national team following their defeat to France on Saturday.
Argentina lost their round of 16 game in Kazan 4-3 and were eliminated from the tournament. France will play Uruguay in the quarter-finals.
“It’s time for me to step aside, to be honest with myself, to say there is a new generation rich with talent and it’s time for them to take over," Biglia said, as quoted by Fox Sports.
The 32-year-old made his international debut in 2011 and netted one goal in 58 appearances.
