Sweden defender Ludwig Augustinsson said Wednesday that he was not able to speak about his side’s 3-0 victory over Mexico because he had lost his voice, but was incredibly happy with scoring his first goal for his country.
Sweden beat Mexico 3-0 in their final Group F match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday and secured their place in the the knockout stage. Augustinsson was named man of the match after scoring Sweden's first goal in the 50th minute.
"I apologize I have hardly any voice, I'm very hoarse. This [scoring a goal at the World Cup] is something I dreamed of and the insane thing is that I really had this feeling that I would score at the World Cup. At the same time I'm also so unbelievably proud of the team, we were sticking to our game plan 100%, we really deserve to progress," Augustinstson told journalists.
Augustinsson added that although Sweden lost to Germany in their recent match, the team managed to pull themselves together and win against Mexico.
