VIENNA, June 4 (Sputnik) - Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Sports Minister Heinz-Christian Strache will pay a visit to Moscow to attend the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Moscow, Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lyubinskiy told Sputnik.
"A day before yesterday, Mr. Strache attended the friendly match between Russia and Austria in Innsbruck and confirmed that he will arrive in Moscow for the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup as an official representative of the Austrian Cabinet," Lyubinskiy said in an interview.
Strache will also take part in an informal meeting of the Council of Europe’s sports ministers, the ambassador added.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15. The games are set to take place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg and Sochi.
