Russia head coach Stanislav Cherchesov named his final 23-men World Cup squad on Sunday. Chalov, goalkeeper Soslan Dzhanayev, midfielder Aleksandr Tashayev, and defenders Roman Neustadter and Konstantin Rausch, who had been included in Russia's extended squad, were not named in the final list of World Cup players.

"I'm sure those players in the [preliminary] squad who were not named [in the final list] will be kept on stand-by. They will have the chance to show their worth in the very near future right after the World Cup. Especially I like the way Fedor Chalov plays... I hope this call up to the preliminary squad will help him take himself more seriously and become a good player in the future," Anokhin said.

The RFU Vice President added that he would like to see more young footballers in the national team.

"But the last game [Russia's 1-0 defeat to Austria] showed that experience is important for our national team. First of all, I mean Sergei Ignashevich and Igor Akinfeev," Anokhin said.

Russia will host its first-ever FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The matches will be played at 12 stadiums in 11 cities across the country. The host nation will face Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A.
