Belgium beat five-time champions Brazil 2-1 in Kazan on Saturday morning (AEST) to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals, where they will face the 1998 winners France at St. Petersburg Stadium on Wednesday (AEST). The 26-year-old Meunier plays for  French side Paris Saint-Germain.

"Frankly speaking, I'm a little bit upset that we'll have to face my teammates and friends. On the other hand, the match will be pure delight," Meunier said.

He added that Brazil win was an "exceptional" game for his side.

"We felt huge support from the stands... We acted as one, enjoyed the game and had a well-deserved victory. This is an exceptional day for us," he said.

Meunier will not take part in the game against France on the pitch. He picked up a second yellow card during the game against Brazil, which means he is suspended for the semi-final.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
