Each Belgium player will be paid more than $515,000 if the team wins the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, a source close to the Royal Belgian Football Association told Sputnik on Thursday.
“In case of winning the tournament, each player will be awarded 445,000 euros [more than $515,000]…” the source said.
The source added that the team was to receive $820,000 each for wining the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but were beaten by eventual runners-up Argentina 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
Belgium will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama on Monday and will face Tunisia five days later. They will play England in their final Group G game on 28 June.
