Belgium have immense respect for Panama, who are dangerous opponents for any team in the World Cup, Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez said on Sunday.
Belgium and Panama are set to play in Sochi on Monday.
“We respect immensely Panama, I think Panama are one of the stories of the World Cup… a nation arriving [for the World Cup] for the first time, against the odds, and I think that’s going to be very dangerous for any team that is going to be facing Panama in this tournament, because they got that incredible belief and competitive nature that they can achieve a dream,” Martinez told journalists at the pre-match conference.
Martinez added that Belgium would try to deliver a “totally focused performance” that they hope will allow them to win their upcoming game with Panama.
Both Panama and Belgium are also set to play against Tunisia and England in the group stage of the tournament.
