CEO of the Russia 2018 Local Organizing Committee Alexey Sorokin said Wednesday that both former FIFA President Sepp Blatter and the federation's current head Gianni Infantino had praised Russia's organization of the tournament.
"I've seen both Blatter and Infantino in the stands. What did we discuss? Of course, FIFA President praised us. It's nice that we haven't heard any criticism [from Infantino] yet. I had a quick talk with Blatter, he also praised the organization. The [participating] teams' praise is also very pleasant... The teams really like it here in Russia," Sorokin said.
Blatter served as FIFA president from 1998 till 2015 but stepped down in June 2015 amid a massive corruption scandal and was replaced by Infantino,
Russia is currently hosting its first-ever FIFA World Cup, with the matches set to be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
