"It is important for Serbia to show how united the team is, because having star players in the squad does not always guarantee success. The most important thing is the team spirit. The same goes for the Russian team," Vidic told journalists.

He added that he would like to attend the Serbia-Brazil match because it will take place at the Spartak Stadium, the home arena of the Russian side Vidic played for from 2004 to 2006.

The FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia between June 14 and July 15 at 12 arenas in 11 cities across the country.

Serbia were drawn in Group E and will face Costa Rica in Samara on June 17 before playing Switzerland in Kaliningrad on June 22 and taking on five-time champions Brazil in Moscow on June 27.
