Brazil reaching the World Cup quarter-finals after Monday’s victory over Mexico is “an interim result,” defender Thiago Silva said after the game.
Brazil won 2-0, with forward Neymar scoring the opener in the 51st minute and then setting up a goal for Roberto Firmino in the dying minutes of the game.
“We had a clear setup for the game, everyone knew what he must do. Mexico are an attacking and quick team, so the tempo they introduced was not a surprise for us. I am glad [with the outcome of the game], but now it is time to think about other things. It was just an interim result,” Silva told journalists.
In the quarter-final, Brazil will face Belgium in Kazan on Friday.
