MOSCOW, May 28 (Sputnik) - Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil striker Neymar says that he is not 100 percent ready yet to play at the FIFA World Cup that kicks off in Russia in mid-June, Brazilian media reported.
Neymar still continues his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery on his fractured right foot in March. The striker has not played since late February but was named in Brazil's 23-man preliminary World Cup squad.
" I'm physically fit... There are certain difficulties but they shouldn't stop me. I'm not 100 percent ready yet, but eventually I will be," the 26-year-old player was quoted as saying by the Brazilian website Globoesporte on Sunday night.
According to Brazil doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, Neymar may be available for the team's first warm-up friendly against Croatia on June 3.
"We expect that he will be fit to play in the first test match. He worked hard during the week. Of course he needs a little time to adjust," Lasmar said as quoted by Globoesporte.
Brazil's final warm-up friendly ahead of the World Cup will be against Austria on June 10.
Neymar has made 83 international appearances and scored 53 goals for Brazil since his senior debut in 2010, becoming the team's fourth highest-scoring striker, 24 goals behind record holder Pele.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place in Russia between June 14 and July 15. Five-time World Cup winners Brazil will face Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E.
