Former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper and 2010 World Cup winner Iker Casillas and Russian model and philanthropist Natalia Vodianova brought the FIFA World Cup Trophy onto the Luzhniki Stadium's pitch in Moscow ahead of the opening game of the tournament on Thursday.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will get underway at 6:00 p.m. local time (01:00 AEST) with the match between the hosts and Saudi Arabia at the 81,000-seater arena.
The World Cup opening ceremony will be held at Luzhniki right before the game.
The FIFA World Cup will continue through 15 July, with the matches set to take place at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
