Egypt striker Mohamed Salah's condition should not worry the Russian national team, the team's midfielder Denis Cheryshev said on Saturday.
On Friday, Egypt lost 1-0 to Uruguay in their first match of the World Cup. Salah played no part in the match and watched on from the bench, after failing to recover from a shoulder injury he picked up in late May.
Egypt head coach Hector Cuper said he would not risk Salah in order to ensure he is fit to play against Russia in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
"Salah is probably not 100% ready, but we shouldn't worry about that. We should focus on our game. The next match will be difficult. Salah is one of the best players in the world, it will be a great boost for Egypt if he plays against us, but we must be very careful with the whole team, not just Salah," Cheryshev said.
Cheryshev has already scored two goals at this summer’s tournament finding the net as Russia thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the opening game of the FIFA World Cup on Thursday.
The tournament will take place until July 15, with the matches set to be held in 11 Russian cities.
