Russia beat Spain on penalties at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium earlier on Sunday. The two teams drew 1-1 after extra time, but Russia managed to beat Spain 4-3 on penalties.

"Now we should continue working hard to win at the quarter-finals [of the World Cup]. One of my teammates asked for [Spain midfielder Andres] Iniesta's jersey, so I approached him after the match and asked for it. That's all we talked about. I have a lot of friends in the Spanish team, so I wish them all the best," Cheryshev told journalists.

Russia have reached their first-ever World Cup quarter-finals since the break-up of the Soviet Union and will face the winner of Croatia and Denmark’s encounter. The quarterfinal will take place at Fisht Stadium in Sochi on 7 July.
