BEIJING, June 5 (Sputnik) - President Xi Jinping's special envoy and Vice Premier of the Chinese State Council, Sun Chunlan, is set to attend the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on June 14, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Tuesday.
"At the invitation of the Russian government, President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy and Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC, Sun Chunlan, will visit Russia from June 12 to June 15 in order to attend the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup," the spokeswoman said.
The ministry is yet to reveal the details of Sun's visit.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will take place from June 14 to July 15 in 11 host cities.
