France head coach Didier Deschamps said Saturday that their upcoming match with Peru would not be easy because the South American team played with “passion” and would be well supported by their traveling fans.
“Peru has a lot of qualities. One of them is passion. I think 30,000 Peruvian came to Moscow, they are really excited and enthusiastic, they have not qualified for the World Cup in some time. It will not be an easy game,” Deschamps told journalists.
He added that the team would “recover before giving some thought” ahead of their next game on Thursday and would look to perform better than in the match against Australia.
France struggled for long periods, but eventually beat Australia 2-1. Deschamps’ side will face Peru in Yekaterinburg on June 21 and Denmark in Moscow on June 26 in their remaining Group C games.
The games of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities till July 15.
