Costa Rica head coach Oscar Ramirez said on Wednesday that he hopes Russia will win World Cup this year.
"I would really like Russia to become [World Cup] champions. The atmosphere here is amazing. I congratulate Russia and Russian people, we will never forget it. All that we have seen here was wonderful," Ramirez said.
He added that the Group E was really tough to qualify from and he will now support the remaining Latin American teams: Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
Costa Rica were playing at the World Cup for the fifth time but failed to reach the knockout stage after holding Switzerland to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday.
Russia qualified in the second place from Group A and will face Spain in the round of 16 in Moscow on Sunday.
